What You Will Need at the Border
Have these four items ready for a smooth crossing.
Recall Clearance
We provide a "No Recall Letter" from the manufacturer proving the absence of safety defects, required to pass inspection.
Bill of Sale
Shows your VIN and purchase price. The original signed document is required for the border agent to calculate the GST.
Title or MCO
We provide the title (used RV) or Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin (new RV) to verify ownership has been transferred.
Vehicle Inspection
You have 30 days to take your RV to Canadian Tire for an inspection. Bring your "No Recall Letter" and related documents.
The Border Crossing Process
When you arrive, stop at the United States side first. Then, proceed to the Canadian border agent's office where they will verify your VIN and process your import form. They will collect the GST and the Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) fee of $195 CDN.
Motorized vehicles have a 72-hour waiting period before entering Canada. Towable RVs have NO waiting period.
