Originally introduced in 1994, the American Eagle Motorhome already offered 11 different floor plans by 1995, including two 38-foot floor plans, eight 39-foot floor plans, and one 40-foot floor plan with a 300 hp Cummins diesel engine.

The 1996 American Eagle Motorhome offered five different floor plans to choose from. All 1996 model American Eagles were built with a 300 hp Cummins diesel engine.

In 1997 the American Eagle Motorhome was available in only three floor plans, though but all provided a 325 hp Cummins diesel engine.

The first American Eagle Motorhome with a slide out room was released in 1998. The American Eagle 40 foot VS model offered a galley slide out to accompany its 325 hp Cummins diesel engine.

In 1999 American Eagle Motorhome offered only 40 foot floor plans, though two of those floor plans provided slide out rooms. All of the 2002 American Eagle Motorhome floor plans provided double slide-out floor plans, and even offered the triple slide American Eagle RV. All American Eagles of this time were still 40' long, and no Tag axle American Eagle Motorhomes were yet included.
In 2003 The American Eagle Motorhome designs expanded to offer three 42' tag axle motorhomes. The American Eagle Motorhomes were also the first to boost a 500HP Cummins diesel engine and Spartan K-2 chassis.

By 2004 the American Eagle Motorhome was offering an impressive 22 different engine and floor plan variations. The American Eagle 42R was the signature coach of that year. By this time, true full body paint as it is known today had become standard on the American Eagle Motorhome.

In 2006 American Coach tried something different by offering the Caterpillar diesel engine on the American Eagle line. The 40' American Eagle Motorhomes were available with a 400HP engine and the 42' American Eagle Motorhome floor plan engines featured a 525 HP.

In 2007 American Coach Motorhome returned to their traditional Spartan chassis and Cummins diesel setup in the American Eagle Motorhome. The floor plan offerings were expanded to include three 45' 500HP models, while still offering two non tag axle American Eagle Motorhomes.
2008 and newer American Eagle Motorhomes were all designed in 42' to 45' floor plans, with only one exception in 2008.

Founded in 1991 showcasing the American Eagle Motorhome, the American Coach line is a division of Fleetwood RV.
